A note of Shri. N. Gajapathi Rao
Secretary General

Re. :- Decline in total club membership in M.Y. 2014-2015

I have gone through and studied the statistics of club members excluding distinguished club members and was indeed shocked to learn that there has been no growth in club membership in M.Y. 2014-2015 I have by my own experience, tried to find out reasons for this decline which I have stated briefly at the end of this letter

As per total CM club members in year 2013-2014 which was 40754 and 1106 new members were added in year 2014-2015. The total thus should be 41860 whereas it remains only 39554 which shows the dropout of 2306

Likewise ZM club members in year 2013-2014 was 33919 and 2621 new members were added in year 2014-2015. The total comes 36540. Whereas, ZM club members in M.Y. 2014-2015 is shown as only 32778 meaning thereby the 3762 are dropped

The total numbers of DM club members in year 2013-2014 were 60786. The new members were added in year 2014-2015 were 6899 total thus comes to 67685 and dropout is 8181

BM club members in year 2013-2014 were 78796 new members added in year 2014-2015 12984 total comes 91780 showing the dropout of 22650.

It to be noted that in above 4 clubs total membership in year 2014-2015 is 200996 against 214255 of 2013-2014 the fall is around 7%. It will easier to comprehend the full picture in the tabular form below.

From the above you will kindly observe that growth in seriously affected obviously due to increase in qualifying conditions. Besides above I feel there are following reasons which have obstructed the growth of club members.

1.      Mandatory condition of Minimum No. of lives is on higher side
2.      Delay in Declaration of results
3.      Mistake in Club membership Programme (Lives are not counted correctly)
4.      Even insurance of a person in different year is counted one.
5.      Unrealistic Bargaining of Business while awarding club membership
6.      Benefits in club membership are not commensurate with qualify condition.
7.      Club convention just complete formalities and not to recognize good works
8.      More emphasis on MDRT

I therefore request you to kindly review and have a relook at the qualifying conditions and revise them to enable more agents to qualify. Escalation clause only in renewal of membership should be available for qualifying conditions and it should be dispensed with or deferred at least for another 3 years, by the time new conditions in the minds of agents are stabilized and better comprehended.

Thanking you

Yours faithfully

(H. M. JAIN)
